Balika Vadhu actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who was born in Jamshedpur, committed suicide at her home in Mumbai’s Kandivili on April 1. She was 24.
Actor Pratyusha Banerjee who rose to fame with popular TV serial Balika Vadhu on Friday committed suicide, according to Mumbai police. She hung herself from the ceiling of her suburban residence. She was also a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 and was one of the participants of Bigg Boss 7 on Colors. She has worked in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (TV series) in 2014 and was last seen in Hum Hain Na as the main female lead.
The actress was last seen with her fiance Rahul on reality show Power Couple. Pratyusha Banerjee started her career with Balika Vadhu as Anandi. She was popularly known as Anandi by her audience.
She was also seen in Sasural Simar Ka, another popular TV series aired on Colors channel. Her last TV show was Hum Hain Naa. The serials shows in which she acted are Balika Vadhu, Kitchen Champion 4, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, Bigg Boss 7 , Hum Hain Na, Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar, Gulmohar Grand, Comedy Classes, Sasural Simar Ka, Kumkum, Bhagya, Aahat, Power Couple (Indian TV series), Man Mein Hai Visshwas 2. As per the several reports from the leading dailies, Pratyusha hung herself on Friday in her house itself to try to commit suicide. She was seen and then taken to a hospital in Andheri, Mumbai at the earliest. In the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, the doctors declared her dead.
