With such high expectations on the movie and the movie being set to hit the theatres very soon there was a trouble now.  On 19th November 2015 a letter was submitted to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis by successor of Bajirao Peshwa I, Prasad Rao Peshwaasking to start an investigation regarding the characterization and portrayal of the historic figures of Bajirao, Mastani, and Kashibahi.

Bajirao Mastani Movie in Trouble Now

Bajirao Mastani in Trouble

The “Pinga” dance is very popular dance for Maratha people and it resembles the Maratha culture, which has been portrayed an item song in the movie.  The Pinga dance as per the trailer released shows that both Kashibahi portrayed by Priyanka Chopra and Mastani portrayed by Deepika Padukone dancing in Pinga style.

As both Mastani and Kashibahi Peshwa are historical figures, the successor of the family claim that the song was disrespectful and that director has changed the important elements of the history by adding commercial elements to the movie.  Prasad Roa Peshwa requested the Chief Minister Fadnavis through the letter to watch out and inspect the movie because he cannot take the insult of Maratha history.

Another successor of Queen Kashibai Peshwe aver that Kashibai has suffered from knee joints disease since her younger age and was confined to bed for most of her life and how the makers made her dance for a song given she is a queen.

We have to wait and see how the makers of the movie are going to handle this issue and release the movie on the scheduled date.
