Chennai Rains LIVE Updates, Rains to continue for 72 hours, next 48 hours ‘critical’, says IMD

There are severe floods in Chennai as well as Tamil Nadu. Severe conditions are present in the several parts of Tamil Nadu. All the Schools, Colleges and Factories were closed. There is no power supply. Hospitals in the city are overflowed with the patients and the water. City Airport and trains were shut for few days. Rainfall had left half of the city attentive and rest of the half with floods. Jayalalithaa, CM of Tamil Nadu state has view the situation and assigns the ministers to inspect the flooded areas. State board examinations were scheduled to begin on 7th December 2015. Government has postponed half-yearly examinations of all the state board schools. The condition of the roads and the railway tracks has also flooded in the state. Puducherry and the outskirts of the city have received heavy rainfall in the state.

Rains Continue for next 72 hours

It was recorded 15.2 cm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. The Airport director Deepak Shastri, till 10 PM on Tuesday, the nine flights have been cancelled.  More than 340 passengers are trapped at the Chennai Airport The water has entered the runway and reached the under carriage of the aircraft. Flights cannot take off until the water levels lighten.

Rajnath said, “I talked to Tamil Nadu CM a week back, had assured her of all assistance. PM also talked to her yesterday.”

The rains that have almost a 100-year-old broken record with one day’s rainfall covering a month’s average also flooded areas in Valasaravakkam, Vadapalani and Nandamvakkam as nearby lakes overflowed into the city. As Tamil Nadu State supports for more rain falls in coming four days so, CM Jayalalithaa has instructed that the fire and rescue, police, National and State Disaster Forces and Coast Guard be ready in case of people from flood hit regions are required to be remove from the situation.
