GHMC Elections 2016 Schedule – Dates:
GHMC Elections Update as on 1st February 2016: The GHMC Elections 2016 official notification has been released and elections will be held on 2nd Feb 2016. The official notification has been released by the Telangana government on 8th January 2016.

Guidelines on Polling Day 02-02-2016
1. Enforcing the Q systems at the polling stations as laid down under sec 22 of Hyderabad City Police jurisdiction.
2. Prohibiting assemble of 5 or more persons in the radios of 100 Mts from the polling stations.
3. All IML wine/Toddi shops, Bars attached to restaurants will be closed Selling/serving of liquor in the limits of Hyderabad City Police from 1700 hrs on 31-01-2015 to 1700 hrs on 02-02-2016 and again on 05-02-2016 to till completion of votes in the twin cities of Hyderabad & Sec’bad.
4. Imposition of U/s 144 cr. P.C in the radios of 200 Mts. From the polling stations in the limits of Hyd & Sec’bad jurisdiction on 02-02-2015.
5. Prohibiting carrying of Arms, Lathes and sticks or any other such instruments which may be used as weapons in commission of any offence or carrying collecting stones or other means of casting missiles is an offence and let to be punishable.
6. There will be a webcasting in 3200 polling stations which will be connected to Command & Control of Hyderabad City Police for monitoring.
7. All CCTV cameras under community CCTV Project shall be utilized on monitoring the areas.

History :
Due to the Telangana state separation, the GHMC elections has been postponed because Hyderabad is as big city as Singapore. so, in order to conduct elections, a lot of time will be consumed, not only time but resources are also required. The last elections which held in the year 2009, the parties contested those elections were BJP (Bhartiya Janta Party), Congress, TDP (Telugu Desam Party), PRP (Praja Rajyam Party), MBT (Majlis Bachao Tahreek), AIMIM (All India Majlis E Ittehad Ul Muslimeen) and others including independent candidates. This time, these elections will take a new and interesting tweak because there is another party to contest elections is TRS (Telangana Rashtriya Samithi) which the single most major party in Telangana to the win highest number of seats in Telangana Vidhan Sabha elections in 2014. Another controversy is that AIMIM was tied up or have an alliance with INC (Indian National Congress) in last elections but, this time, the scenario is different because this time AIMIM may or may not tie-up with TRS.
