With the top three Indian batsmen having put up a brilliant show chasing Australia’s score 348, the situation was set for MS Dhoni to do what he is popular for finish the game. India’s ODI captain was just not up to his standard and got out without scoring a single when another 72 runs were required for a first win over Austrlia at the Manuka Oval. This was India’s fourth consecutive defeat on the 5 ODI series and MS Dhoni was to take the blame for the flop after 23 runs defeat in the fourth ODI vs Australia.

Dhoni Takes Blame for Quick Collapse

MS Dhoni said “I would say my wicket really was the turning point. If you see specifically, that’s what my role is in the team to make sure we finish off the game from that kind of situation. At that time, we lost quite a few wickets but I think it was my wicket, because according to the responsibility everybody has, that specifically is my role.”

The series loss is raising questions about the long term viability of MS Dhoni as ODI and T20 captain, with a younger Virat Kohli having shown in the Test cricket that he has ability to injecting fresh energy and ideas into the team.
