Kashyap and Srikanth into second round of German Open
Indian badminton players had crossed the opening hurdle of the German Open as Ace Indian Shuttler Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth who won a the Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold at Lucknow in January this year also made it to the second round of the men’s singles competition at the USD 120,000 German Grand Prix Gold. Ace player Kashyap, who is 11 seeded Indian cause of many injuries he suffered recently had an easy outing on the first day as he defeated Ukraine’s Artem Pochtarev 21-9 21-9 in a comeback International match after a month. Kashyap will meet Joshua Magee the Irish qualifier in the next rounf of the German open.

The 23 year old Kidambi Srikanth is sixth seeded Indian in the tournament and he got better of Japan’s Takuma Ueda 12-21 21-18 21-11 in tough battle on court which had lasted almost an hour. Srikanth will face the Netherland’s shuttler Erik Meijs in the second round.
Among the other Indian shuttlers young Sameer Verma too made an easy win over Dmytro Zavadsky 21-9 21-8 to earn a place in the next round to face Korean shuttler Lee Dong Keun who is the 15th seeded player of the tournament. While these are the Victorian Indian shuttlers on the opening day of the men’s singles competition at the USD 120,000 German Grand Prix Gold Kaushal Dharmamer was defeated by Marc Zwiebler with scores of 21-4 and 21-14. Marc Zwiebler is 14th seeded in the tourney.
These are the opening day single’s update as the Indian men’s double pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy are yet to play a game, they will be clashing up with the English combination of Chris Langridge and Marcus Langridge.
