Kerala Civic Election Results Live 2015 Vote Counting – Panchayat, Municipal Corporation :
Elections to local self-government institutions in Kerala will be held in two phases on November 2 and November 5. A total of about 21,900 wards in 940 gram panchayats, 14 district panchayats, 152 blocks, seven corporations and 86 municipalities will go to the polls. Kannur, a new corporation, has been added to the existing six.
In the 2010 civic polls, the UDF bagged the Thrissur and Kochi corporations, while the LDF won from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kozhikode. Of the 59 municipalities that saw polling in 2010, the UDF won 39 while the LDF won all the remaining.
Counting of votes for the local body elections in Kerala began at 244 centres across the state on Saturday morning. Polling was held at 1,199 three-tier local bodies on November 2 and 5. Elections were held for 1199 local bodies, which includes 941 village panchayats, 152 block panchayats, 14 district panchayats, 86 municipalities and 6 corporations. Even though state politics have been dominated by factions led by the Congress and the CPI(M), this time the entry of the BJP has made the fight a three-cornered one.
