Maharashtra Sex Workers Donates 1 Lakh Rupees to Chennai Flood Victims

Sex workers from the Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district have donated 1 lakh Rupees towards Chennai Relief fund. Sex workers in an event that was organized by NGO Snehalaya in the district called Ahmednagar. They have presented the cheque of Rs 1 lakh to District Collector Anil Kawade.

“These women were restless since the last four days, when they came to know of the deluge in Chennai. They decided they should do something to help residents there,” Snehalaya founder Girish Kulkarni told PTI.

“We are in touch with Delhi-based NGO Goonj for ensuring further relief to the people of Chennai,” Kulkarni added.

Sex Workers in Ahmednagar District gave money from their Savings

It was important for the sex workers to contribute towards the relief fund because they have realized that a great disaster had been fallen in the state of Tamil Nadu. There are total three thousand sex workers in the western state of Maharashtra. Out of these three thousand sex workers in the district, two thousand of them have contributed to the relief fund.

“They said such a great calamity has befallen Tamil Nadu and they needed to contribute to the relief work. They set aside this amount by saving and even had just one meal in a day,” he said

“Of the around 3,000 sex workers in the district, in western Maharashtra, almost 2,000 contributed to the relief fund, We are in touch with Delhi-based NGO Goonj for ensuring further relief to the people of Chennai,” Kulkarni Said.

These people have helped a lot for the people those are surviving in the State. The southern Indian city has seen the worst rains in more than a century and parts of it have been flooded for more than five days. Everyone are requested to pray for Chennai.
