Rahul Dravid say no to BCCI advisory panel

The India’s most ingenious former cricketers who had served country for more than a decade are  going to take part as Cricket advisory committee announced on Monday. The intention of this committee is to guide a young Indian team that how to win across overseas. Surprisingly, the BCCI announced Sachin, Sourav and Laxman as the panel members by omitting Rahul Dravid.

Reason behind Dravid’s refusal

The Indian former skipper Rahul Dravid declined the offer to join the committee. According to some Board of Control for Cricket India officials, Dravid may have declined it due to some reasons other than cricket. It seems that, “Dravid is uncomfortable working with Sourav. That’s why his name is not in the list”. Another cricket official said that Dravid’s decision was expected. Because, “A cricketer like him wouldn’t want to be involved in a battle of egos,” he said.

The former Indian legends Dravid and Ganguly debuted in the Lord’s test 1996. In that match they proved that they were the great middle order batsmen and captains for India over a decade. But they didn’t share the best of relationships. Ganguly as a skipper asked Dravid to take on the wicket keeping in the ODI’s to keep his spot in the 2003 World Cup.

Why Dravid not reponding to the Ganguly statement?

In the 2004 home Test series defeat against Australia, Dravid was not amused after he was left to lead the team in the third Test in Nagpur, after Ganguly left out due to lack of citing fitness. Last year, Ganguly quoted as saying that Dravid said he knew about Greg Chappell’s plans to remove him and make Sachin as skipper again. Because, Ganguly is not being able to control the Australian. However, Dravid denied having such a chat with Ganguly.

A board official said, a coach for team India will be announced before the Bangladesh tour begins. This clears that Fletcher is no more the Indian coach. He need to depart. If a coach is not available, India mentor Ravi Shastri – Mentor of team India and his team will available for the Bangladesh series. At last, “The committee has finally been formed with Sachin, Sourav and Laxman”.
