State government has decided to perform Organ trasplantation in all state hospitals
The state government has decided to perform organ transplantationin all government hospitals and granted permission to the Guntur Government Hospital for conducting heart transplantation. Minister for health. K. Srinivas said that harvesting of 120 organs was completed in AP state and praised the team of Manipal Hospitals for successfully performing liver transplantation.He announced that the government decided to conduct organ transplantations in all government hospitals in the state. Addressing a pressmeet on Sunday, Mr Srinivas said that ill persons would get new life with theorgan donation of one brain-dead person and asserted on the need for promoting organ donation.
He said that the government primarily decided to start organ transplantation in government hospitals at Guntur, Vijayawada, Visakha-patnam and Tirupati and in the first phase, organ transplantation facility would be started in GGH Guntur and King George hospital, Visakhpatnam.

He said that later, organ transplantation facility would be started in the rest of the government hospitals. Mr. Srinivas said that earlier the organ transplantation facility was available only in Hyderabad, but after state bifurcation, AP people are facing difficulties for organ transplantation. Hence, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu decided to turn the government hospitals into organ transplantation centres.
Mentioning that famous cardiothoracic surgeon Dr A.G.K. Gokhale and his team performed 140 bypass surgeries under public-private partnership (PPP) in the GGH, Guntur, the minister announced that heart transplantations would be started soon in GGH with the success of bypass surgeries.
Mr Srinivas said that the state government decided to recruit 500 doctors, 1,000 nurses and 16 hospital administrators on contract basis for the betterment of health services in AP. He assured about starting AIIMS construction works at Mangalagiri. The team of Manipal Hospitals doctors explained about the successful liver transplantation to the minister on the occasion.
