Telangana State Bandh on October 10 Called By Opposition Parties :
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) face its first state-wide bandh on October 10 with Opposition parties threatening to bring the state to a standstill unless the government announces a one-time and full payment of the farm loan waiver balance amount, touching almost Rs 8,000 crore.
The bandh call was issued after the entire Opposition, with the exception of MIM and a few other MLAs, were suspended from the Legislative Assembly for the rest of the ongoing monsoon session. Opposition Congress and BJP members of the Legislative Council too faced similar suspension.
The opposition parties have called for Telangana Bandh on October 10 in protest against the State Government’s alleged failure to resolve the agrarian crisis.
TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the Congress party would observe Telangana Bandh to pressurise the State Government for one-time settlement of crop loan waiver scheme dues and to expose the failure of government to prevent farmers’ suicides. Meanwhile, Telangana TDP Working President and MLA A. Revanth Reddy too called for Telangana Bandh on October 10. Other opposition parties BJP, YSRCP and Left Parties too have supported the bandh call.
