WhatsApp to end support for Blackberry, Nokia and other older Operating systems by the end of the year 2016. Whatsapp management team has announced late on this week that they will be closing their support for the older operating system.
Why WhatsApp to end support for Blackberry, Nokia ?
The whatsapp was owned by Facebook company last year, after that they had made many changes and updates in the whatsapp. Now, the latest update from the Whatsapp team is that, they cannot provide their support to older operating systems as their new updated version.
There are many devices which no longer updated or installed on new devices, whatsapp will be closing their support for those operating systems. This dropping system includes some of the Blackberry mobiles, Nokia older version mobiles and windows mobiles. But it will support all the latest smartphones which runs with Android
.
Whatsapp said, There are mobile devices that have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our App’s features in the future,” They have stated the full list of operating systems whatsapp will support is:
- Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
- Blackberry Os 7 and earlier
- Blackberry 10
- Nokia s40
- Nokia Symbian s60
- Windows phone 7.1
They added that, “When we started whatsapp in 2009… about 70 percent of smartphones sold at a time had operating systems offered by Blackberry and Nokia,”.”Mobile operating systems offered by Google, Apple and Microsoft accounted for 99.5% of sales today.”
Whatsapp has celebrated its seventh anniversary last week and the news has broken in the same week. Whatsapp now has millions of active users. So their updated news will surely disagreed by many of the users. Whatsapp has updated voice calls and emoticons recently and this sudden and surprising news may sadden many of the users. But whatsapp says it can’t help in anyway for the old Os users.
We suggest you to switch to other new operating system version in order to continue using whatsapp. Because whatspp will be dropping its support by the end of December 2016 for the above mentioned mobiles. But it will still work if there is any changes in the operating systems.
